This evolving ministry is responsible for monitoring the audio and visual aspects of the service— streaming onto social media platforms, monitoring the sound, attentively maneuvering slides, and collaborating with the Pastor and Musician(s) to produce a quality worship service experience. The Altar Guild places and cares for flowers and adornments in the pulpit and surrounding areas.
The First Baptist Church Sunday School aims to provide a comprehensive program that encompasses the Christian educational needs of every age group in attendance in accordance with the vision set forth by the pastor and Sunday school superintendent to better meet the needs of the growing membership.
Works with and coordinates with the various groups to prepare food for fellowship events
Deacons are dedicated to serving God and protecting the spirituality in the Church. The men in this Ministry go through catechism and ordination. Their goal is to demonstrate and foster Biblical principles and servant leadership to the Church members and the outer community.
Assist in maintaining the spirituality in the Church and being listening ears and encouragement to those who may be in distress, supporting, praying for others, and serving the needs of the FBC congregation and neighboring community. These ladies play a major role in the two ordinances of the church—Baptism and the Holy Communion— aiding candidates for Baptism and preparing and setting up the Lord’s Supper.
The Douglas Leon Franey Library is situated in the Joseph E. Penn Family Life Center. It serves as a resource center which houses religious, African-American and historical literature, children’s books, and Church records. This ministry offers services to assist in Christian and educational growth and development in an atmosphere designed for reading, study, reflection, and meditation.
These ministries individually, cooperatively, and collaboratively work to enhance Christian fellowship among their fellow men and women, not only in the church but also in the greater community. They plan "in-reach" and outreach programs in an effort to encourage, educate, and uplift each other.
Depending upon the availability of funds and within the guidelines, this group provides food and assistance for individuals and families, and working in conjunction with other ministries and individuals in the church, the missionaries sponsor and co-sponsor different community outreach projects throughout the year.
Music enhances the worship experience, sets the tone for the service, reinforces the pastor’s message, and ministers to the congregation. There’s a place in this ministry for those who enjoy singing, playing instruments, and fellowshipping with others in worship, praise, and song!
Members of this Ministry provide refreshments for the Pastor’s study, clean robes, and offer other assistance as required or requested.
TRUSTEES are charged with the responsibilities of managing the church’s finances and maintaining the Church’s property.
These are the “official” greeters to all who enter the Church doors. They assume the vital role in ensuring order and aiding worshippers whenever needed. Ushers also are called upon to represent First Baptist at other churches for their special services and events. Youth, Teens, Adults, and Seniors are invited to serve in this Ministry.
The First Baptist Church Van Ministry aims to provide a safe, wholesome, and consistent means of transportation to and from church and church-sponsored activities. Volunteers with current driving licenses and safe driving records are encouraged to be considered as supporting drivers.
Youth group provides opportunities for young people to immerse themselves in the Christian experience through age-appropriate fellowship activities. This Ministry is designed to expose young people to workshops and opportunities that not only are fun but also educational, helping to prepare them for future leadership roles.
